Norm Zocher

Three guitarists combine their talents to raise money for Eye of
the Storm Equine Rescue. Abby Aronson, Harry Chalmiers, and Norm
Zocher will perform a mixture of musical styles – jazz, blues,
folk, and rock – on a variety of guitars – acoustic,
electric, bass, and nylon string. All hail from the faculty of the
Berklee College of Music. The group will crank out well-known and
original high-energy tunes on Saturday night, October 1, at the
historic Stow Town Hall.
Abby Aronson's origins are in classical guitar. She studied with
virtuoso David Leisner at the New England Conservatory of Music
(NEC), where she won the Chadwick Medal for top performer and musician.
For her master's degree at NEC, she changed her focus to jazz guitar,
studying with such greats as Mick Goodrick, George Garzone, Bob
Moses, and Cecil McBee. She has since enjoyed a multifaceted career
as a classical and jazz guitarist, bassist (in the funk band Urbana),
and singer/songwriter. Abby joined the Berklee faculty in 1995.
Harry Chalmiers is a versatile performer and songwriter in many
genres. A native of Louisiana, he began playing rock and blues guitar
at age 10, metamorphosing into an accomplished classical guitarist
with a master’s degree in composition from New England Conservatory.
Harry has performed on stages across the country and in Europe,
and headed up the popular band The Born Bluesers that included former
J.Geils bassist, Danny Klein.
In addition to composing for television and films, Norm Zocher
has performed in venues ranging from The Blue Note in New York to
the Blue Room in Banff, Alberta to The House of Blues in Cambridge.
Norm teaches at Berklee and the New England Conservatory of Music.
They perform Saturday night at 7:30, October 1, at the Stow Town
Hall, located at the intersection of Routes 117 and 62. Doors open
at 7:00 for the 7:30 show. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for
children and seniors. All proceeds to benefit the horses and ponies
at Eye of the Storm.
