A Permanent Home for Eye of the Storm?
Friends of Red Acre (FORA)
A concerned group of Stow citizens is trying to develop an alternative
to the development of the Kunelius property on Red Acre Road in
Stow. This high-density development would replace the existing horse
farm, placing 30 families on just 2 acres of land. The town has
the right of first refusal and the Friends of Red Acre (FORA) is
implementing a plan where the town would assign its ability to purchase
the property to a non-profit organization.
Fundraising efforts are currently in progress to relocate Eye of
the Storm to the Kunelius horse farm on 4-5 acres of the property.
42 acres would be given to the town as a gift. Two existing houses
on the property would be deed restricted as affordable housing,
with one of them owned by Eye of the Storm as a caretaker's residence.
A draft of an article supporting this plan is currently being reviewed
by the Stow Selectmen. There will be a vote at town meeting in January
and the purchase would have to be put into place in mid-February.
Thanks for your help!
Let's find Eye of the Storm a permanent home!
