Frequently-Asked Questions About Creating an On-line Memorial
- What
is a pet memorial web page?
It is a web page on the Eye of the Storm web site that is devoted
to your deceased horse or other pet. It is our way of thanking
you for a donation of $50 or more. You send us text and a photo
and we create the page.
- What
will it look like?
The header and footer will be like this page. The middle part
will be whatever you send us.
- How
do I create a pet memorial web page?
First you need to make a donation of $50 or more.
Second, fill out the Memorial Creation
form.
Third, email us a photograph in JPG (best) or BMP format.
- How
many pages may I have?
You may make as many submissions for as many pets as you like.
Just remember to make a $50 donation for each page you request.
- I
made a donation last year, do I get a page?
The Eye of the Storm always needs additional funds to keep its
horses well cared for. Please make a new donation if you would
like a page.
- What
can I put on my page?
Practically whatever you want. Naturally, we will not post anything
R-rated or worse! Nor can we post copyrighted content. You may
send a poem you have written, a touching story, or just a sentence
or two. Just be sure to check the spelling and grammar!
- Do
I have to fill out all the fields in the form?
Nope. Just be sure to fill out the ones with a red asterisk; they
are required. Everything else is optional.
- I
don't know when my pet was born.
That's okay. You don't have to put birthday or date of death on
the page if you don't want to.
- Will
it look like an Eye of the Storm page?
Sort of. It will have the header and footer of an Eye of the Storm
web page. But the center part will be whatever you send to us.
- Is
there an annual fee to keep the page on your site?
Certainly not, the last thing we want to do is have to keep track
of that! Once you get a page posted on our site it will remain
as long as Eye of the Storm has a web site (we plan to be around
for a long time!)
- My
pet died years ago, can I still create a memorial now?
Absolutely. It's a great way to do something special for a pet
you've been missing all these years.
- Where
can I get my photo scanned?
Try your local copy shop or photo processing center. Be sure to
tell them it's going on the web so they will keep the file size
small.
- There's
no way I can get my photo scanned, what do I do?
If you cannot provide your photo on-line, you may mail a photo
for us to scan. Please donate an additional
$10 to cover scanning costs. Send photo with self-addressed stamped
envelope (if you want it returned) to:
Eye of the Storm Equine Rescue
65 White Pond Road
Stow, MA 01775
attention: pet photo enclosed
Write your name, address, and email address on the back of
your photo.
- What
if I don't have any pictures of my pet?
You may just send text. Or if you have another picture, such as
a drawing, you may send that instead. Please
if you want to double-check before you send.
- How
many pictures can I have on the page?
Just one, please. If you really, really want more than one, then
to discuss how we can work this out in exchange for a larger donation.
- What
should I write?
Whatever you want! A story, a poem, something funny your pet used
to do... If you feel stuck, pretend you're writing us a personal
letter about your beloved pet. Also, look at the other memorials
for ideas.
- How
long can my write-up be?
If it's too long people won't want to read it. Try to keep it
to less than a printed page -- about 400 words. Use plenty of
paragraph breaks because no one liks reading a huge chunk of text.
- May
I include my name and/or email address on the page?
Sure, just let us know in the last field of the form called "Any
Special Requests or Concerns."
- Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, Eye of the Storm is a non-profit corporation, registered
with the IRS as a 509(a)(1) foundation. (EIN: 04-3483627).
