Shami
was adopted August 8th, 1998 by Caroline Abely who own Saunders
Farm in West Townsend, MA. He was a companion to Sugar, a horse
they have and use for pony rides for friends who come by with children.
Over the last four years Shami has been joined by Fawn,
Shiloh, Alex and his best friend EllieMae a little welsh pony.
He has never wanted for anything and has always had warm blankets
and medication for his arthritis and when he foundered last January
he had the egg bars and founder medication to go with it and pulled
out of it.
He loved snow, high snow to roll in and to be groomed by EllieMae
his pony friend, applesauce, the radio on classical music, and soaked
food but not too soaked or he'd turn up his nose at it. He loved
to sun himself in the grass and would get annoyed and all fired
up at the deer that would peek out at him from the woods. He loved
children and when they visited he would let them groom him for as
long as they wanted.
In his final days the cancer started too take him and while he
still had his dignity he was humanly put to rest and buried next
to his friend Fawn by the edge of the pasture he enjoyed running
in. If love could have kept him he would still be here but it was
his time to go. He is very missed by all that knew him.
