Taki
was a 28-year-old Appendix Quarter Horse who has had at least two
successful careers: first as a "lead pony" at a racetrack,
and then as an event horse. For many years, he competed at three-phase
events throughout the New England area, carrying his owner with
steadyness and honesty over cross country obstacles, through dressage
tests and around stadium courses.
As he became older, Taki developed arthritis, but with careful
management of his diet and exercise, he remained sound. He came
to Eye of the Storm in mid-2000 when his owner could no longer care
for him. He was adopted in November, 2000, and he had a happy third
career as a lightly ridden trail horse and wise companion to Miss
Chief.
This sweet, beautiful old soul died of a heart attack in the arms
of his loving friend, Jo.
