Greetings
Yay!
Summer’s Over!
Can you believe it’s already the end of the year? I
didn’t think the bug season would ever end and here
it is, winter!
I thought you would all like to see some new pictures of
our horses so please click
here to see a few photos.
I do not yet have a current picture of Sun, but in just nine
weeks he has gone from skin and bones to an almost normal
weight. It was very hard for me to not stuff him with food!
I started feeding him small grain meals every two hours during
the day and all the hay he could eat, plus soaked alfalfa
cubes. I didn’t know the condition of his teeth.
In the meantime Sun’s body was telling him that with
no body fat and winter coming on he had better grow himself
a thick coat of hair. So now, with two inches of hair and
gaining several pounds each day, he’s hot!! He reminds
me of a little, old man in a shabby, old, fuzzy bathrobe a
few sizes too large. But he’s growing back into his
baggy old skin and he’s going to be okay. At least he’s
no longer starving to death. He’s very sore though I
still don’t know why, and somewhat neurological at times,
possibly from being deprived of nutrients for so long. Only
time will tell. I will have a picture of him next month. You’ll
be amazed by the “before and after.”
Thank you!
Nina Arbella, Chief Manure Mucker, Eye of the Storm Equine
Rescue
We Need Money!
Please keep in mind that we desperately need your help to
keep this much needed sanctuary and rescue running. It costs
approximately $35,000/year to run Eye of the Storm. All
donations are completely tax deductible as we are
a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. Thank you so much for
your continued support.
Please see the credit card link on the right to donate via
PayPal, or visit our Help
page for other ways to donate. Thank you!
Need Herbs?
Eye of the Storm will be selling its
own herbal blend for the Cushings horse soon.
Evidently, chaste tree berry cannot be purchased everywhere.
We have had emails from as far away as New Zealand concerning
the Cushings diet. I have discovered a few more herbs that
work well with the chaste tree berry and have been using them
on our horses for several months. They are all doing very
well.
We have received many emails from people whose horses’
lives have been turned around with this diet. If anyone would
like to purchase this blend from us, it will be ready soon
and we'll let you know in a future e-newsletter. It will be
sold at a very affordable price. It is my ultimate ambition
to make these horses’ lives better. All proceeds will
go towards the care of our special horses. Let us help you
to help us!!
We Need Help!
All of the horses currently at Eye of the Storm will be with
us for life unless the absolutely perfect home happens for
them. Most of them are unrideable. All of them have severe
problems that can never be solved. They are happy and comfortable
and safe here. They will live out their days with us. We need
help!! Are you reasonably strong? In fairly good health? Have
a few extra hours a week to spare? Live within 30 miles of
Stow, Massachusetts? Are of reasonably sound mind (all of
us are a little crazy here)? Male? Female? Can work fairly
independently and can learn something after seeing it once
(well, maybe twice)? Then, I NEED YOU!! Please volunteer!!
All you need is to love horses and want to work your butt
off!!
A competent handy man would be very nice, too!! Everything
is falling apart!!
Pushing the wheelbarrow up Mount Manure gets the old heart
to pumping and all those low weight reps of forking manure
really tightens up the pectorals (no saggy chests around here!).
So get a good aerobic workout while doing your share to save
the universe!
About the ads on our home page
If you've visited our home
page recently, you've noticed the new Google adwords ads
appearing along the side. We're experimenting with including
these ads as anothe way to get some additional income to buy
food and supplies for the horses.
Every time someone clicks on one of the ads, Eye of the Storm
earns a few cents. So please, feel free to click on them.
All the ads are related to horses, so you'll learn about some
new products and services while helping Eye of the Storm at
the same time.
We thank you for your support!
I'm always happy to talk to people who call Eye of the Storm
for advice about horse care. But it's become a bit of a problem
if people leave messages and I have to call back long-distance.
We really have to focus our limited funds on horse supplies,
not phone calls.
I still want to talk to you, but please, call back if you
don't reach me. Or, if you're willing to make a donation,
I can call you back long-distance. Thanks for understanding!
