Shadow

Shadow and his best human friend, Steve Pendolari, one of our devoted volunteers.

Shadow

Shadow is a beautiful 10.5-hand brown gelding. We don't know his history, but we do know that he was a terrified, wild, unmanageable pony when he came to Eye of the Storm in late 1999.
He was acquired at an auction by a local man who'd hoped to purchase a pony for his children. But it quickly became apparent that Shadow was not a good candidate for a kid's pony. He was frightened, confused and mistrustful of all humans, and therefore unpredictable and possibly dangerous.

His previous owner didn't want to send Shadow back to the auction, so he asked Eye of the Storm if we'd be willing to take him on.
With careful, consistent handling and a great deal of one-to-one attention from Nina and his new owner, Eye of the Storm volunteer, Steve Pendolari, Shadow is learning trust and confidence.

He is halter-broken and will stand quietly to be groomed and have his feet handled, but he is not comfortable with children. He requires a gentle touch, shying from people who confront him loudly or approach him too quickly. Shadow spends his days with his pony friend, June Bug, a happy member of the Eye of the Storm family. Shadow is NOT available for adoption or sponsorship.
